AFECO present bio-cage at Biosolids Conference

Building on the success of our sludge dewatering product, bio-cage, AFECO co-presents with Southern Water on the success of over 50 installations at the International Biosolids Conference

The European Biosolids & Organic Resources Conference, held at Leeds on 13th – 14th November 2018, is widely recognised as one of the industries leading events. AFECO’s Technical Manager, Dr Phil Thomas, will be presenting a paper at this event co-authored with Southern Water on the success to date of our bio-cage sludge thickening solution.

Bio-cage is a simple mechanical product designed to increase the dry solids content of sludge on wastewater treatment sites to reduce the cost and carbon impact of sludge transport.

Following an initial trial, Southern Water have implemented a full scale roll out which to date has included over 50 sites. The presentation looks at performance data, site impacts and sludge volume reductions. To date the total roll-out has seen a sub-2 year payback on transport costs alone.

Phil said “presenting at this conference is an excellent opportunity to highlight the work we have undertaken with Southern Water with the bio-cage. The fact that this is a joint presentation with Southern Waters Optimisation Team shows how satisfied they are with the project and the success which has been achieved so far. We are looking forward to sharing this information with the rest of the industry in Leeds.”
