Damar Group are a multi-disciplined service provider, delivering civil, mechanical and electrical engineering services. AFECO were engaged by Damar to provide support in the design and commissioning of a new fire fighting booster pumping station at Aberporth MOD test facility, a project that was being delivered through Kelda Water.

Kelda Water appointed Damar to design, build and commission the new fire fighting booster station to replace the old existing system that had been serving the MOD facility since the 1920’s. On behalf of Damar, AFECO oversaw the design and procurement of the booster set and assisted in the design of the Motor Control Centre (MCC) and control system, flow metering, surge protection and anti-vortexing plates.

The services provided by AFECO included:

  • Booster pump design
  • MCC design
  • Commissioning documentation
  • Commissioning management
  • Take-over testing
